D092 Task 1 Website For WGU
A.1. My personal philosophy on the integration of technology
and the classroom:
·
Students have a place to always check what is
coming up, what today’s homework was in case they missed it, and to check their
test scores.
·
Parents have a place to keep up with what is
going on at school.
·
Integrating technology and my classroom allows
for my students to have a place that helps them maintain responsibility for
their classwork without excuses as to not knowing what was happening in class
and what was expected of them.
·
If students miss school, they can always check
here for any assignments that were given while they were absent and can be
prepared to do the work when they return.
Ensuring ethical use among yourself on your website is key
to demonstrating what you will expect from your students so make sure to list
any websites you got quotes or images from.
Examples of ensuring equitable, ethical, and social
responsibility use on your websites could look like the following:
·
With your Cromebook provided by the school check
into the website to stay up to date. Do not forget you can also use computers
at school and our local library.
·
Please ensure to remain on approved websites for
your own safety and to continue to have the privilege of using technology. Any
misuse of school computers will result in your technology privileges being
revoked.
·
As always make to always give credit where
credit is due. If you find information for your work somewhere other than the
textbook, please make sure to quote and give the location of where you found
your information.
·
Any bullying or online harassment will not only
result in your technology privileges being revoked but will also result in
further disciplinary actions by the school.

EdSurge. (2022). Retrieved: https://www.edsurge.com/product-reviews
“EdSurge site allows teachers to search for
products by category, grade level, and learning needs.” (Resources to Help You
Choose the Digital Tools Your Classroom Needs, 2016) This will help me as a
teacher to quickly be able to access material for my classroom without having
to wade through a bunch of material. As for my students this will help give
them more material to help solidify lessons I am teaching.
·
Graphite is now called Common Sense Education. Common Sense Education. (2022). Retrieved:
https://www.commonsense.org/education/articles/teachers-meet-graphite
Graphite has a new series geared toward
helping teachers integrate technology in their classroom with small lessons so
as to not overwhelm teachers. This will help me as a teacher to learn how to
integrate technology into my lessons without taking up too much of my free
time. In saving me free time it will help my students to get more of my time
that they need to better understand the lessons I teach.
·
Learning Assembly. (2022). Retrieved: https://learningassembly.org/
This resource connects teachers to other
teachers in an effort to impact learning in the classroom via technology. As a
teacher this will help me seek the advice and help of other teachers who are
more versed in the use of technology in the class. This will affect my students
by helping me better understand how to use technology to teach them new methods
of learning.
A.2.B.
·
Digital field trips allow for the integration of
new places the class cannot facilitate going to in person. It will help me as a
teacher to show my students a whole world of experiences that I could not
otherwise show them just in my classroom. My students will learn about and be
able to fully experience places that we can not go to as a class outside of
school.
·
Online activities for students who finish work
early will allow for students who finish work before others to solidify their
understanding of the material. It allows for students to perform online activities
to keep them busy after they finish their work but while the rest of the class
is still working. As a teacher this will let me know if some work is too easy
or too difficult for students. In addition to that it will allow me to see if
students that are finishing their work early are zooming through it without
actually doing it correctly or if they are not being challenged enough.

MGSE9-12.A.APR.1 Add, subtract, and multiply
polynomials; understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the
integers in that they are closed under these operations.
During this lesson we can use the smartboards
to have the students come to the front of the class and work on examples. Doing
this will show the whole class how to work out the problems and will give the
class an opportunity to have questions answered about any specific area of
misunderstanding.
This lesson is best taught as direct instruction.
As I will put up the information on the smartboard and go over it with the
students.
·
Formative assessment strategy
Quizlets provide quick result evaluations
of students. Having this tool in my classroom helps me be able to check at a glance
where the students are in their understanding of the material and who still
needs help. For students this will help them to have an evaluation that is immediately
graded and gives them feedback on what they might still need to study before tests.
Since the computer grades the quizlets and I can retrieve that information
quickly it will allow me to check their progress so that students do not fall
through the gaps.
·
Summative assessment strategy
Kahoot is an online test taking program. Having
this tool in my classroom helps me be able to check at a glance where the
students are in their understanding of the material and who still needs help.
For students this will help them to have an evaluation that is immediately
graded and gives them feedback on what they might still need to study before
moving on to future lessons. Since the computer grades the tests and I can
retrieve that information quickly it will allow me to check their progress so
that students do not fall through the gaps.
·
Student data can be used through technology for
student learning outcomes by showing the teacher and student where the student
is in their learning process. Seeing what students still need help with will
show students where their area of weakness is and what they need to seek help
on before tests and moving on to future lessons.

·
Google classroom connects teachers and students
for when students can not be in the classroom whether it is due to illness,
weather, or after the school day is over. This allows me at the teacher to
update students on missing work and help keep them on track. For my students this
is a place where they can go to get any missing assignments or help they may
need when they can not be in the classroom.
·
ABC Mouse is an excellent resource for students that
helps them master both educational skills as well as computer skills through
fun and interactive play. For teachers it is a resource that can help keep
students that finish work early, busy while the rest of the class catches up
and will also resolidify lessons that you know they need to be learning. For my
students it is a fun way to learn new material and to practice material they already
know so that they do not forget it as we progress through harder lessons that
build upon previous knowledge.
4.B.
·
Text to speech is a wonderful use of technology
to help students especially those with learning disabilities such as autism as
it can bridge the communication gap by allowing students to type what they want
to say and speak it to teachers. As a teacher this will help me better communicate
with my students who do not speak as well as others. This is beneficial to my
students because it will allow them to communicate their wants and needs in the
classroom so that they can be better understood.
·
Closed captioning is such a great resource especially
for ELLs. It allows for either English or their first language to be displayed
at the bottom of the screen while students are watching videos. This will help
me as the teacher to get the students to draw better connection to words they
know in their native language to English. For students closed captioning helps
to allow students to hear or see their first language while continuing to learn
English while watching videos.
